StandLogix | Dashboard
role: director of ux and design // hours: 480 // results: healthier more engaged employees
01 | The problem
Last year, physical inactivity cost the US $333 billion, and each sedentary worker cost their Employer $3,500 extra. The Impact? Employers are buying standing desks in droves, even though the average workers only stands for 1/5th of what's recommended — leaving 80% of the benefits on the table! Standlogix needed a dashboard web application developed to notify, engage and enable employees to sit and stand based on their biometrics and goals. This application also gave employers a view of their employee's wins in order for them to incentivize the achievements.
02 | My Process
I had the opportunity to work very closely with the StandLogix team and help them hone down their personas from an employer and employee aspect. This helped me craft a strong demo of the web application dashboard to promote the ease of use of the product as well as the clear data visualization of employee's goals and fun competition with other team members. The gamification of the program created fun competition between the employee teams. Once Standlogix started piloting the application, we were able to interview employees and iterate on the design.
Employer persona
Employee perspective
“I really appreciate the fact that my company cares about the overall health of their employees. Some companies give you a gym membership that you never use. Standlogix's tactic to engage and gamify standing at your desk to hit your health goals is not only fun but actually quite easy.”

Like a Fitbit® for desks Standlogix bridges the gap in employee wellness — desk-bound worker engagement — by enabling employers to implement, measure and manage sustainable and effective wellness programs where and when employees are actually working.
03 | The Result
1. Highly engaged users due to easily presented performance data (sit/stand activity — similar to a FitBit) to expand their level/feeling of quantified self, something previously unattainable while working at a desk.
2. Employers hopped on the bandwagon and incentivized employees to hit their standing activity goals via gift cards, time off and bonuses.
3. The creation of a Team-to-Team challenge structure that leveraged friendly competition to drive high levels of sustained engagement and increased social cohesion. [Example: Participants are split into groups that compete for the highest team score over X amount of time].
